“Critical Thinking” - the ACO Autumn Summit 2015

Five years of austerity and the pace of economic and social change have challenged Trusts and Foundations to examine their ways of working. This conference, with its range of speakers, aimed to help delegates to engage in reflective and independent thinking.

Speakers included:

Jeremy Wells, senior investment relationship manager on the Newton charities team;

Malcolm Hurlston CBE, a real life social entrepreneur who founded StepChange Debt. Charity;

Vivienne Hayes, CEO of the Women’s Resource Centre and Third Sector’s Britain’s Most Admired Charity winner in 2014;

Karl Wilding, Director of Public Policy at NCVO, and Visiting Fellow at Cass Business School’s Centre for Charity Effectiveness;

Damon Gibbons, Director at the Centre for Responsible Credit;

Fati Naraghi, is a global industrial analyst, specialising in the technology and telecommunications sectors at Newton Investments;

Chris Rowse, is a Senior Associate at Russell-Cooke, in a team that focuses exclusively on advising charities and not-for profit organisations on their legal and governance needs;

Patrick Nash and Daniel Elser. Patrick set up Connect Assist in 2006 and is Chief Executive. Daniel is the Head of Grants for The Royal British Legion, responsible for establishing and implementing policy for the Legion's c£20m grant expenditure.

Chris Sherwood, leads on campaigns, marketing, policy and research, digital media and media and communication for Relate, and is the Co-Founder of Guerilla Policy, a hub site for frontline bloggers on social policy.
