The fifth module in our Frontline Worker Programme, provided by Pennysmart CIC. This workshop is tailored for frontline charity workers supporting individuals in debt crisis. It is particularly relevant for those working in smaller organisations without in-house regulated debt advice provision. The session aims to boost your confidence in assisting beneficiaries struggling with debt and provide insight into the strategies and solutions available.

The session will include:

  • An overview of formal debt solutions, such as Individual Voluntary Arrangements (IVAs), Debt Relief Orders (DROs), and personal bankruptcy.
  • Understanding the main causes of debt, including unexpected expenses and loss of income.
  • Exploring informal debt solutions, such as debt management plans and negotiating with creditors.
  • A guide to the debt collection process and how to deal effectively with debt collectors.

This workshop will equip you with the skills and understanding needed to support beneficiaries and help them access the most appropriate debt solutions.
