Job Description
Who we are
The Trust is a grant-giving charity whose mission is to help individuals aged 60+, who live in St Albans District and are in receipt of a low income and have limited savings. Grant expenditure is around £200,000 a year.
The Trust gives grants to individuals primarily in the form of items, including appliances, furniture, and mobility items. We celebrate our 25th year in 2025. The Trust doesn’t have the infrastructure to employ staff, so staff are employed by Health and Independent Living Support (HILS) a large Social Enterprise based in Hertfordshire. The grants team include a Grants Manager, Grants Officer (this vacancy) and a Grants Administrator (contractor). There is also a Charity Secretary (contractor).
What you’ll be doing
You will be running the day-to-day case management of the grant-giving programme. You will have a caseload of clients who you will assist from first contact, quickly establishing trust and rapport whilst gathering personal and financial information, through to writing a grant application, then arranging supply of the item and invoicing. In addition, you will signpost often vulnerable clients to other services which can support their welfare and wellbeing. As we are a small charity, you’ll be picking up additional projects, eg helping prepare reports, visiting other local charities.
The full application pack, including the job description, person specification and more can be found here on the HILS jobs page.
How to apply
Apply on the HILS website using the application form or via Indeed.
Closing date
5pm on Monday 10 March 2025. Interviews will take place in person week beginning 24 March 2025.
