Fundraising Foundation Trustee - CILEx Foundation

The CILEx Foundation is looking to appoint a dynamic, experienced person to join the Board of Trustees. The new Trustee will hold the Fundraising, Sponsorship and Income Generation portfolio for the charity, this is a fantastic opportunity for a senior Charity Professional with vision in this area.

Who we are

The CILEx Foundation is a newly formed Associated Charity representing Members of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives, (CILEx). We aim to support aspiring and experienced CILEx Lawyers to achieve their full potential – this may be through support with their academic journey, help if they face unexpected hardship which might otherwise interrupt their work or studies, and encouraging them to broaden their career development opportunities.

CILEx Members are partners in law firms, they hold senior positions in-house and in local government and are also members of the Judiciary. They are different by design, and the CILEx Foundation aims to make the route to law accessible to all.

2021 will see not only the launch of some of our charitable activities and programmes, but changes to the way that the CILEx members we support, study and qualify. These are exciting times to join us. There is an opportunity to make recommendations and a real difference in setting the strategic course for this new venture. The current board of Trustees expect the fund to generate £1-2 Million in fundraising activities within the next 2-3 years.

In addition to general Trustee responsibilities, the successful applicant will also bring their fundraising experience to support the Board. Your knowledge of sources of income, forming ethical corporate partnerships, working with donors and making grant and funding applications will be vital for the ongoing work of the charity.

What we are looking for 

We are looking for someone with a passion for ensuring high quality delivery of services and senior experience of fundraising, sponsorship/partnerships and income generation.

We are seeking a Trustee with the following:

  • Demonstrable experience in fundraising and income generation including, but not limited to, grant funding, corporate/charitable partnerships and donor engagement.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, and an eagerness to engage proactively with the Board, both in relation to strategic decision-making, and ad hoc industry issues.
  • Knowledge of/experience in charity work, including compliance with fundraising law and regulations.
  • A passion for ensuring high quality delivery
  • Experience of Scholarship and Bursary programmes would be an advantage.

This is a voluntary role for which no remuneration is payable other than out of pocket expenses. Trustee Insurance is provided. Trustees can expect to spend 1-2 days a month on Foundation Business

Trustee meetings are arranged quarterly and currently take place remotely, although travel to London or the home counties (Bedfordshire) for meetings may be required. Other ad-hoc meetings, (currently by remote means), may also be required.
