Martin’s Story Silences Room at GroceryAid’s Sporting Lunch

Over 1,200 colleagues from 200 companies in the grocery industry gathered together at the Grosvenor House, London to raise an incredible £635,347 for GroceryAid at this year’s Sporting Lunch.

The room of grocery employees and sporting heroes fell silent as GroceryAid President Andrew Higginson introduced ‘Martin’s Story’, a new film showing how the charity helped a colleague struggling with mental health issues. Attendees watched Martin tell his story of how GroceryAid’s 1-2-1 counselling and mindfulness techniques helped him recover and return to work. Similar support could be provided to over 2,100 colleagues thanks to the total raised on the day.

Andrew commented, “The Sporting Lunch is a highlight of GroceryAid’s calendar, and I am delighted that we’ve raised a record total of £635,000.  The charity provides essential support to colleagues when they need it most and thousands more will now be able to benefit as a result of the industry’s generosity today”.

The fantastic amount raised will allow GroceryAid to make a real difference to all colleagues across the industry who are experiencing emotional, financial or practical difficulties.
