Mowlem Award 2019 open for applications

B&CE’s Charitable Trust, which provides support for construction workers and the industry, is calling for organisations to apply for the Mowlem Award 2019.

Now in its fifth year, The Mowlem Award, worth £20,000, is granted to organisations that make a substantial difference to training and the promotion of health and safety in the construction industry.

Barbara Dinsdale, Head of B&CE Charitable Trust, said: “The Mowlem Award is a great opportunity for organisations who are really committed to improving health and safety in construction. We’re delighted to be able to give them a financial boost to take the next step with a project and we’re looking forward to receiving applications for the 2019 Award.”

The winner of the 2018 award was Mates in Mind, an organisation that partners with leading charities and organisations including Mind and The Samaritans to help and improve positive mental wellbeing in the construction industry. The charity used the £20,000 grant to develop mental health training and support for apprentices in construction.”

Previous winners have included St Edmund’s Society, which works with disadvantaged young people; Women into Construction, a not-for-profit organisation promoting gender equality in construction; and Shekinah Mission, a social enterprise that helps vulnerable people gain practical skills and employment.
