New Chair and treasurer for BT Fund

Claire Dyer, BT’s HR Director, Strategy and Transformation has taken over as Chair of the BT Benevolent Fund Fund’s trustee board.

Clare Dyer joined BT quite recently and has previously worked for, amongst others, KPMG, Microsoft and the BBC. Tom Keeney has stood down as he leaves BT. Tom has been on the board for ten years and chair for the last three.

BTBF also has a new treasurer, Lesley Norris, who takes over from Mike Pearce, who will be stepping down later in the year after over 10 years of service.

In the first half of 2018 the Fund dealt with 303 one-off requests for help, as well as continuing to pay weekly grants to 230 BT pensioners on very low incomes. 128 of the cases came from current employees, a rise of 103% over the same period last year.

All told, the fund has made grants amounting to over £460,000, helping with a wide range of needs, including debts arising from illness, rehousing following relationship breakdown, and urgent disability adaptations.
