One Day Changes Lives

One Day Changes Lives is a new national awareness day taking place on 16 October 2019.

Please visit our Members List to find out more details about all grant-making charities and benevolent funds who are members of ACO.

The One Day Changes Lives campaign aims to raise public awareness of the impact grant-making charities and benevolent funds have on society.

We aim to raise the profile of ACO’s different charity members, of which there are over 100 and highlight their services so more people can benefit from their support. It will also challenge public misconceptions of benevolent funds. Many benevolent funds have been operating for decades, but still have huge relevance today and are needed more than ever today.

The campaign will test the commonly held belief that benevolent funds only provide financial support, where in reality there are many other services they provide to significantly improve the lives of their beneficiaries, from mental health support and advice lines to setting up friendship networks.

The day also seeks to show the nation the overall impact ACO members have as a collective. While an individual act of benevolence may seem small, such as providing a grant for a new fridge, this can have a huge impact on a beneficiary’s life. Together individual acts of benevolence by ACO members can amount to a colossal positive impact on society as a whole.

ACO members provide more than £150m in grants to tens of thousands of people each year. One Day Changes Lives hopes to highlight the overall help ACO members can offer people to ensure as many people as possible are aware of where they can get support.

We encourage our members, and members of the public who have ever been helped by our member charities, to take part in the campaign and share examples of support on social media on the day using the hashtag #OneDayChangesLives

If you are an individual in need of support, please visit Turn2Us who can help you search for a grant.
