RetailTRUST holds first wellbeing at work forum

Over 100 HR and wellbeing specialists joined the charity at the Science and Industry Museum in Manchester at the end of November for their very first one-day Wellbeing at Work Forum.

The event, supported by Eversheds Sutherland, was designed around the four pillars of wellbeing – emotional, physical, financial and vocational – and set out to challenge, inspire and motivate attendees, and provide them with practical ideas to take back into the workplace.

Some of the topics discussed on the day included:

  • The difference between managing mental health and managing a mental health condition
  • Why HR and People departments should build a wellbeing strategy for their organisation and how to get buy-in from the board
  • How to recognise the signs of emotional distress in colleagues and how best to support them
  • How offering a much wider variety of financial options can boost wellbeing and encourage staff retention
  • New training and development opportunities including how to deliver a successful
  • apprenticeships programme
  • And the importance of decent nutrition, hydration, exercise and optimal sleep for high performing teams – and their managers.
