Smallwood Trust announce Women’s Resilience Fund

Smallwood Trust have announced they will be evolving their grant-making strategy with the launch of their Women’s Resilience Fund. This will empower frontline women’s organisations to distribute grants to financially vulnerable women in their local communities.

Over the next two years, the Fund hopes to allocate around £1m between 40 community grant partners who will be best placed to provide practical one-to-one support to the women who need it.

To ensure they remain responsive and to maximise impact, the charity believes this community-led strategy will enable them to reach more financially vulnerable women with support centered on the key drivers of stability, such as housing, financial security, pathways to employment and mental health and wellbeing.

Paul Carbury, CEO at Smallwood Trust said, “Devolving power to frontline women’s organisations is an important part of this project as not only will the Fund help them build their financial capacity but it will also place the decision-making with those directly supporting financially vulnerable women.”

In order to become a community grant partner, organisations will need to share Smallwood Trust’s core values, have a strong track-record in helping women in their local community, be financially capable and have good leadership. In return, Smallwood Trust will provide funds, a grant-making toolkit and full training.

In particular, the Fund would like to invite expressions of interest from organisations in the areas of Stoke-on-Trent, Liverpool/Merseyside and Middlesbrough/Teesside.
